The Knights also cancelled a FanFest event originally scheduled to take place Tuesday, Oct. 3.
The Golden Knights are scheduled to begin their inaugural season next Tuesday, in the first ever game played in Las Vegas and T-Mobile Arena. The Knights’ first season officially begins on Friday at Dallas against the Stars. The Golden Knights also play on Saturday on the road against the Coyotes.
The team said it’s foundation would be making “a significant donation towards the relief efforts” and that players will be making public appearances on Tuesday to show support to both victims and first responders.
Jason Zucker, a forward for the Minnesota Wild, and the only Las Vegas native in the NHL, tweeted his prayers this morning to anyone impacted by the shooting, along with the locations for those able to donate blood.
In a story on the Wild’s website, Zucker said everyone in his family is safe, but he had a friend in attendance who was shot, and whom Zucker thinks is in stable condition.
“It’s a very small community there. It seems like there’s a lot of people and a lot of tourists, obviously, but it’s a very small community,” Zucker said. “I know they’ll rally behind everyone. The law enforcement did a wonderful job as far as I’ve been hearing. Everybody, all the responders, from what I’ve heard, have been phenomenal and just the support overall has been great.”
We will update with more information as it becomes available.
