GoLytely is in a drug class called osmotic laxatives. It works by causing watery diarrhea to clear stool from the intestines so that the colon becomes clear enough to be seen in a procedure. GoLytely contains electrolytes, which prevent dehydration from fluid loss while the bowel is emptied.
GoLytely is available as a powder that is mixed with water.
